North Europe’s largest distribution centre for fresh food near Copenhagen

Copenhagen Vegetable Market is to move to Scandinavian Transport Center Køge 20 km south of Copenhagen where North Europe’s largest trade and distribution centre for fruit and vegetables is to be established, the Grønttorv informed at a press meeting.
The new vegetable market is to supply all of Denmark and southern Sweden with fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and related produce to the gross value of over EUR 500 million.
Up to 1000 persons will have their daily work in the approximately 150 companies connected to the vegetable market. In the long term the vision is to include other fresh goods such as meet and fish in the market’s assortment.
The vegetable market has been located in the suburb of Valby since 1958 and the 16 hectare area is now to be sold and probably housing will be built instead.
