A region rich in education and research

The Øresund Region focuses heavily on education and research. The Øresund Region is one of the leading university Regions in Europe and the fifth largest in Europe when it comes to the publication of scientific articles. The Region is home to 12 universities and colleges as well as 15 international schools.

Research centres in the Region
A large number of research centres are based in the Region, including IDEON in Lund, MEDEON in Malmö, CAT in Roskilde and the facility in Hørsholm. These centres carry out research and product development in the fields of medicine, biochemistry, biotechnology, IT, telecommunication, environmental technology and food control. These exemplifies areas of competence in which the Øresund Region leads the field – even from an international perspective.

 

Øresund University – a collaborative venture involving 12 universities
Fourteen universities and colleges in the Øresund Region have joined forces on a project called “Øresund University” – the largest border Region university collaboration in Europe. The aim of Øresund University is to improve collaboration between the universities themselves – both as regards education and research – and the working relationship with the business community, authorities and other organisations in the Øresund Region.
